The Adventures Of A Coach's Wife

Adventuring through life with my husband & our daughter, all while sharing the good, the hard and keeping it real with this coach's wife way of life!

Jordan and I met during the last three weeks of my undergrad. It was after thanksgiving and I was hanging out with some of my girlfriends at Starbucks getting my last project done before I graduated. “Let’s take a break and get on bumble” my friend said. After some back and forth of “yes” and “no” we all did it. We made accounts and just had a good time browsing the pool of guys in our small college town.
That’s when I saw him. Blonde hair, blue eyes, great smile. Bumble was this anomaly in the sense that the girl had to initiate the conversation only after being confirmed a match by the guy. So I did it. I swiped right and pretty quick after that I got a ding on my phone that he had also swiped right.

“Occupation: baseball coach” his profile said, so what was a girl to do? I looked up the corniest baseball puns/jokes out on the Internet and sent him one. It was love at first pun. We started chatting, but it was so different than how it typically went with other guys. We talked about our goals and dreams, and we resonated in our passion for working with kids/athletes as well as our love for our faith and our families. After a day and a half of chatting, he asked me out on a date. We were married just one year later.

Before we dated I had gone to maybe one baseball game in my life. Now I have been to enough to earn me an honorary coach award. I think the same can be said for those of you who are also living this life. We have transitioned from college baseball to professional baseball. We will have moved cross-country three times in one year as of the start of this season. Our belongings are currently in storage and we don’t know where we will make our home base after the season. But what I do know, is that while this life is absolutely crazy, it’s also extremely fun and beautiful. Our dating/married life has been a collection of adventures, of ups and downs and of uncertainty. But one where we have also seen the hand of God in everything, everywhere, and most importantly in all the people and connections we have made.
If you’ve made it this far in this post, thank you for being here and for wanting to share in this crazy, beautiful, and nomadic baseball life!
